Heather's Bio:
My grandfather started breeding Haflingers shortly after I was born and and I have been in love with the breed ever since. I started out showing his Haflingers in draft halter and driving classes, driving everything from single, tandem, team (pair), unicorn and on a very, very rare occasion 4 in hand. I later switched to the pleasure Haflinger and have not looked back.
I rode many other breeds, mostly Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses, growing up and showed them in 4H and on the hunter/jumper circuit. While I will still on occasion go for a ride, I spend most of my time now driving haflingers.
When I am not working at my real job, you can find me working with my haflinger, New York TMA, or one of the farm's horses. I spend a lot of time keeping the farm's driving horses in shape and training tuned up. I also work with all the farm's younger horses and show them in halter classes.
In 2014, I tried driving a tandem at an arena driving trial and am now hooked on driving tandem. In 2015 I entered my first full Combined Driving Event, the Buckeye CDE, with a tandem, Noble B S-SSN and Mackinac RM, and had way too much fun! I hope to enter many more events with the tandem in the future.
